Meet Brooke!  She comes all the way from New York.   We took a road trip and picked her up in Deleware.  She's currently resting and recovering from her time in the shelter.  She needs a little extra TLC before she will be available for adoption.  She's a great girl and we are happy to have saved her.

We will be updating on her progress.

Chance- the Chrissy's K9 Cottage mascot made his first appearance at the event.  He had a lot of fun greeting all the children and families who stopped by to see him.

Chance even got to bowl.  He had a great time!  Thank you Liberty Lanes for letting us hold a fundraising event there for Spotsylvania to get a dog park!

Can't adopt?   Become a foster family!

Helping these animals move from a life of fear, abuse, and malnutrition to being a loving, grateful family member is a fun and rewarding job.  The change in the animals is amazing with just a little food and love.

The hardest part of being a foster family, is letting go when these wonderful animals go to their new forever family.  Remembering that each adoption makes room to save another life makes it easier to continue fostering.

If you have the room in your home and in your heart; make a difference and foster!

Introduction

We are Chrissy's K9 cottage.   We are working toward getting forever homes for dogs who have spent time in the shelter, been surrendered by their owners, or found wandering around with no where to go. We have saved many dogs from shelter's death row.

There are many dogs in shelters who need a safe loving home.  When you purchase a pet from a store you are supporting puppy mills.  When you buy a puppy from the side of the road, you are supporting back yard breeders.  When you adopt a rescue you are saving a life!

Puppy mill puppies are often born with birth defects from over breeding, and inbreeding.  Or from the lack of care to check out the blood lines to see what the parents medical history is.  Mom dogs in puppy mills are kept in crates all their lives, never knowing what it means to be a true family member.  As soon as the mom can no longer produce pups they are tossed out as if they mean nothing.

Back yard breeders are only in the business to make money.  They don't breed for temperament, or anything other than I want to make some extra cash from having puppies.   Most of the time the puppies are not taken to the vet for check up's and routine shots.  When you bring your cute little puppy home, you go for a walk and without the needed vaccinations, your puppy can get very ill and may even die from the illnesses they are vaccinated from.

When you adopt a rescue, you are supporting your community, and you are saving a life from certain euthanasia in the shelter.  Shelters and rescue groups are full to the brim with wonderful pets who need forever homes.  Animals in rescue groups and foster homes have been temperament tested and given a temporary place to stay where they learn manners and get ready to go to their forever homes.  They've been given medical care, and are up to date on all their vaccinations.  They have also been Spayed/Neutered by the rescue group.
